Engaging Scenarios

Across the Globe

Anticipation of an event, when worst case scenarios are frequently imagined, often seems more unsettling than the event itself. This certainly seems to be the case for our Grade 12 students who, despite earlier nerves, seem to be managing stress well and seem quite pleased with their exam performances so far. Having read a few exam papers already, these positive responses seem entirely reasonable. Obviously all of us at the college wish them well for the rest of their exams and remain available should there be any need for support or guidance.

Presenting far less stress, the Grade 11 Drama Club has continued to prove popular throughout the term and, under the leadership of Ms Sloth Richter and Mr Gouttenoire, have constructed an exciting and innovative project. A recent visit to a local care home provided the opportunity for students to engage with older residents, to discuss their different experiences of being a 16 or 17 year-old and then, with permission from the residents, used their reminiscences as the basis for a script and then a play they will present to the care home in March. This exciting project is a great example of how different generations can learn from each other and engage in a mutual beneficial working relationship. Discussions are already taking place with aims to continue the project next year and possibly expand. Further details will follow.
