ISSA Girls Football Tournament 2018
ISSA Girls Football Tournament
Eight intrepid footballers braved icy conditions, purple toe nails, muscle cramps and teams with a healthy number of substitutes to compete at the ISSA Senior Girls Football tournament over three days (Nov 15-17th).
"In my 24 years of football coaching, I don't think I have ever witnessed a more determined and resilient bunch." - Mr Paul Rose, Football Coach
Against the larger schools of Europe they spurred each other on to emerge from pool play, following a gripping 3-3 draw and, let's face it, an easy win on penalties, to compete for a 5th-6th place. After holding a 1-0 lead for a good part of the match, the petrol did run out of the tank a little and we went down to an equally gritty St. Dominic's 3-1.
Our girls should be immensely proud of their achievement, recognised also for the Tournament Team Sportsmanship Award that they brought home, as voted by the team coaches and referees. The sky is the limit. Congratulations!
