We had a very enjoyable and rewarding MYP Assembly this week; this covered a number of important areas and concluded with a celebration of the achievements of last year's Grade 10, with the presentation of their MYP certificates.
An important part of the Assembly was the introduction of our new MYP Student Government, in which new President Sacha introduced the new team. Amongst their number are our two Vice-Presidents Rohit and Cecilia, with Eva as Secretary. It was excellent to see the enthusiasm of all our Student Government members, and we are very grateful to them for serving our community.
Ms. Pawel told us about the Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fundraiser Day (Thursday 10 October) and explained to us about the terrible devastation experienced by the Bahamians. We also had a thought-provoking item from the Debate Club, in which they set up a mini-debate about fast food; in this, arguments for and against fast food were used, with our debaters pitting the short and long term health benefits of avoiding fast food against counter-arguments such as convenience and cost. Maya and Charlie then followed this item with an inspiring acoustic performance, after which it was time for the presentation of the MYP certificates by Mr Rose. The presentation of certificates provided an inspiring end to our MYP Assembly and, as can be seen in the photo which accompanies this article, there were many happy recipients!
