Space exploration in Grade 8 Science

As part of their Space exploration unit, the Grade 8s have been investigating the way that scientists successfully land rovers and scientific equipment on other planets and moons. This week we have been experimenting on how different factors effect the efficiency of a parachute.

The ultimate aim will for this research will be for the Grade 8s to design an egg lander to be dropped from a height, whist aiming for a target and without damaging the egg.

With Nasa, UAE and China hoping to land rovers on Mars in Feb 2021, we will soon be able to see this science used in real life and maybe we can inspire a space engineer of the future.
