UKMT - Intermediate Maths Challenge results
On the 1st of February, our Grade 8, 9, and 10s took part in the annual Intermediate Maths Challenges (IMC) organised by the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust). The challenge itself tests the students on their logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and their perseverance to work through unseen questions. The challenge was a tough paper this year with some really tricky questions, and we have just received amazing results! We have 13 students who received Bronze, 11 students who received Silver and 4 students who received Gold.
We have 2 students, Yuki in Grade 9 and Rodion in Grade 10, who qualified for the next round of the Kangaroo Challenge. Only the top 8000 students around the world get through to this round! In addition, Shiko in Grade 10, who ranked in the top 1500 students in the world, qualified for the Maclaurin Olympiad Challenge. All 3 students have achieved amazing results, and this is a monumental moment. Now, they will be receiving some master classes to help them do the best that they can on the 16th of March 2023.
The Maths teachers are proud of all participants in the challenge, and I am sure the rest of the ISL Community will join in on congratulating all our students.
Now here is where you can join in on the fun! Here is a question from the earlier part of the paper, can you work it out?
This one was the last question on the paper! Can you work out the most complex question on the IMC 2023 paper?
