Across the Globe

Wind down Wednesday:

There have been many scientific studies into the benefits of being near the water such as a river or the sea. Results suggest that spending time near water can have psychologically restorative effects and lead to improved mental health. If you are fortunate enough to be able to, try spending just 10 minutes by the Thames, the sea, a lake or even a pond in your local park. Notice the sounds you hear and the wildlife that inhabits the area. If this is not possible, try one of these videos: Surfing in the Maldives, Relaxing Music and Ocean Waves.

Thoughtful Thursday – try painting

Why is painting so valuable? ... Painting is a way to do many important things: convey ideas, express emotion, use their senses, explore color, explore processes and outcomes, and create aesthetically pleasing works and experiences.

Don't Know What to Paint Next?

Paint your current life. ...

Paint what you are passionate about. ...

Paint what is around you. ...

Paint something abstract. ...

Have fun when you paint! ...

Read for Fun Friday:

Ms Patterson’s recommendation:

My Sister, the Serial Killer' by Oyinkan Braithwaite.

A blackly comic novel about how blood is thicker - and more difficult to get out of the carpet - than water... an easy read, lighter (somewhat!) than the title suggests!

Mr O’Callaghan’s recommendation

The Circle by Dave Eggers

What begins as the captivating story of one woman's ambition and idealism soon becomes a heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about memory, history, privacy, democracy, and the limits of human knowledge.
