Experts in their field

As well as being first class teachers, mentors and leaders, our faculty also consists of a number of published authors and co-authors of IB textbooks.

We are privileged to have these experts at ISL, who provide the highest quality education and thought-leadership.

Clare joined ISL Surrey in 2015 and ISL London in 2017 but has been running school libraries in UK schools for 25 years. She holds a master’s degree in library management and a postgrad diploma in Educational Leadership and Management.

Clare sits on the ECIS Special Interest Group for Library and Information Services, organising professional development opportunities to librarians around the world via conferences and webinars. She has been an SLA mentor for new school librarians for many years and has co-authored a series of articles about the role of the school librarian for SecEd and Headteacher Update while also appearing as a guest on several podcasts.  Clare's first book for school librarians is due to be published mid-2026 and she is also in the process of developing a series of live and webinar-based training courses for librarians to be offered via online training platforms.

Clare has led the development of the ISL Research Institute since 2016. This project, enabling groups of MYP students to collaborate on academic research with mentoring from academics and advisors from university settings, has also been piloted in two other schools, one in Hong Kong and another in Doha. ISL students have presented their work from the Research Institute with Clare at international conferences, via webinars and through written pieces in International School magazine and the EAL Journal.
